ESK Immersion hosted a Mawiomi on the Castle Bay Ballfield on Friday, June 16. The weather was just right for dancing. We had guests from near and far as far as Guetemala. We also had lots of photo ops including from the sky from a drone operated by a guest who was writing a story about our community. Students danced to the drum led by male head dancer, Pasmay Doucette, Jr.male head dancer, Zacc Doucette, and Jr.female head dancer Callie Stevens. Emcee Calvin Stevens did a great job emceeing his first powwow. After a morning of dancing, students and guests participated in the giveaway and a feast to end the Mawiomi. Thanks to the Powwow committee and all staff and volunteers for a great day to celebrate our culture.
